Every couple has a love story. One of our favorite things is to hear all about our couple’s love stories. How and where they met. How long it took them to fall in love. How the proposal went. All the little details in between. Sometimes they are super romantic. Sometimes very funny. No matter what they are, all are unique and special.
We realized that we have never shared our love story. We want to do that now. Over the next several weeks we will share a piece of our story. It may not be dramatic. It may not be earth shattering. But it is special. It is ours.
Part Three: Still Just Friends
Part Nine: Getting to Know the Families
PART ONE - THE NIGHT WE MET
Amberly was a sophomore in college at BYU. She grew up with five sisters which gave her great practice at living with five roommates. If you haven’t had the opportunity of living with five other girls, well it can be quite the experience. Sometimes you get crazy ideas in the middle of the night, which just so happened to be the case on this surprisingly warm February night in 2007. As roommates they decided to go to Denny’s for a classy midnight meal. But seeing as it was midnight they decided they couldn’t go unless they were dressed in their very best sweats wearing the nicest hats they could find. The result was pure class.
As they were exiting their apartment and headed towards the car they came across two boys. These were not the normal type of boys, the ones you casually pass along the street. No these boys were a bit more unique. One was holding a ukulele in one hand and a can of spray paint in the other. While the other guy was climbing on a half wall and jumping across the walk way to the other half wall on the other side. So as you can tell, also super classy.
The two groups of friends stopped and chatted for a bit. Names were exchanged and then quickly forgotten and soon enough both parties split and went on their way. Later that night the boy who had been jumping from wall to wall mentioned to his ukulele carrying friend that he though the girl in the cowgirl hat with the totally awesome green baggy sweats was kind of cute.
Neither that boy (Ryan) nor that girl (Amberly) had any idea that they would be running into each other again, and soon.
