I had never gone into labor on my own with our previous three babies. In fact Jaxton, our oldest, was a week overdue before I was finally induced. So when my doctor offered to induce me anytime after 39 weeks we quickly decided on a date. It makes life easier knowing you already have everything planned out. Our kids had somewhere to go, our hospital bags were packed and we felt “mostly” prepared.
We went to bed on Wednesday, June 5th knowing we would need to arrive at the hospital early the next morning, around 6:30. We were planning on dropping our kids off at Ryan’s parent’s house on the way. It was an unrestful night of anticipation.
At 2:12 I woke up to my water breaking. I jumped out of bed faster than I thought possible at 39 weeks. As Ryan sat up, startled from my abrupt exit, I told him “I think my water just broke!” We both froze for about 10 seconds until Ryan said, “I guess this means we are going to the hospital now.”
At this point I hadn’t had any strong contractions so I took a quick shower and ate a fast breakfast. Then we woke our tired kids and loaded them into the car. I still had only been feeling mild contractions. We called Ryan’s mom and let her know we were on our way. As we were driving my contraction quickly became more and more painful and about four minutes apart. So we called Ryan’s mom again and asked her to meet us at the hospital.
We were admitted and into a room by 3:20. Luckily in time to get an epidural! Things progressed quickly and after pushing through three contractions little William Robert joined our family at 5:05 am. We loved all 7 lbs 3 oz and 18 inches of him!
Will, thank you for joining our family! Happy due date little man! We love you!
